Outdoor sport areas
In Kihniö you can enjoy a wide range of outdoor activities throughout the year. In spring and summer you can hike in the forests, run or walk on a 22 km long cross-country trail, and cycle on various cycling terrains.
In autumn you can pick berries on good berry fields and play, for example, swamp kickball. In winter our ski slopes are in very good condition thanks to our own ski slope machine.

The Kihniö sports field underwent a complete makeover in late summer 2022. A new and magnificent artificial sand turf was installed on the field. The boundaries of the football field and the women's baseball field have been drawn on the field. The field is used by the school during school hours, but is freely available in the evenings and on weekends.

In the summer, athletics competitions are held on the field.
You can also book shifts at the field. In this case, it is worth contacting the municipality's leisure director.

The Pururata is an 800-meter-long track in the forest between the Koivikko residential area and the industrial area. The Pururata is suitable for running and walking in the summer, and skiing in the winter. In the winter, children's skiing competitions are held on the Pururata, which is organized by Kihniö athletes.

The walking track is illuminated.

Pyhäniemi-Käskyvuori exercise route
A 22-kilometer sports trail for hiking in the summer and both traditional and skate skiing in the winter. The round trip route runs between Pyhäniemi holiday village and Käskyvuori.

Field path in the center approx. 650 m
A cross-country ski trail has been built in the field next to the school. The trail is approximately 650m long. The trail can be accessed from in front of the gym or from the sports field parking lot.
Dog track - approx. 1,4km
The dog track is harnessed as a dog track. The rules of the dog track are as follows:
The dog track runs along the right-hand side of the Pururada track and also circles the back loop of the Pururada track.
Dogs can only be walked on the dog track by skiing, not walking.
The dog must always be on a leash.
Clean up your dog's waste immediately. It's a good idea for your dog to relieve himself before coming onto the ski slope.
Announce your intention to overtake in good time and loudly. The person you are overtaking will go to the left and the person you are overtaking will give way to the right.
Try to keep your dog out of the traditional track rut.
You can also ski on the ski slope without a dog.
The dog track is out of use on cookie week evenings because the track is reserved for series skiing.

A great long sandy beach to spend a day with the family. There is a slide, a pier and changing rooms on the beach, and there are toilets in the nearby restaurant building.
Aitolahti on Korhosjärvi

Intended for more skilled swimmers, as the shallow water is not shallow for very long. There is a pier, changing rooms and an outdoor shelter on the beach.

The ice hockey rink is located in a field next to the school. The rink has a heated container where you can change skates and two open changing rooms.

Weekly competitions are held at the Pyhäniemi disc golf course in the summer, and anyone can register for them. Information about the competitions and registration here.The competitions are organized by Parkano Kiekonnakkelijat.
Kettukallio Sports Park
Kettukallio Sports Park
In the field area next to the school is the Kettukallio Sports Park, which offers a wide range of activities for all ages. The area has:
- Small-sided playground where you can play football, basketball or volleyball
- Wave park where you can scooter, cycle or skate
- An ice hockey rink with a tennis court with artificial sand turf from spring to autumn
- Outdoor gym
The sports park is free for everyone to use.
There is no water point in the sports park, but there is one in the parking lot of the adjacent sports field. The parking lot also has an outdoor shed.
If you need help, for example, with using outdoor gym equipment, please contact the municipality's sports advisor (044 7541302 / Emilia). Instructions on how to use the equipment are free of charge.

Moving throughout the year campaign
Kihniö is participating in the Moving Through the Year campaign.
The year-round campaigns are Winter Exercises (January 10.1th - March 31.3st), Challenge Cycling (May Day to Midsummer) and Autumn Exercises (September 1.9st - November 31.11st).
