You can learn about the local history of Kihniö at the Kihniö Artifact Museum, the Aitoneva Peat Museum and Wanha Puumila, which are open during the summer. Puumila Art Gallery has a permanent exhibition about the life's work of artist Germund Paaer.

Artifact Museum

The artefact museum will reopen in the summer of 2026.
The municipally owned artefact museum was founded in 1945 in a loan grain warehouse near the church. The warehouse was built in 1921 and is a protected site by the Finnish National Board of Antiquities. The museum's collections consist mainly of artefacts collected by merchant Tarmo Markkula. There are over 2,500 objects. The museum is run by the Department of Education. The Kihniö Artefact Museum is open during the summer at times to be announced separately and at other times by agreement.

Peat Museum

The Aitoneva area houses a museum, a machinery exhibition, a birdwatching tower, an environmental trail and two lean-tos. Admission to the sites is free.
In the summer, a summer café operates in connection with the museum. At other times, by appointment.

Germund Paaer's life's work
On display on the ground floor of Puumila Art Center is a collection compiled by the Kihniö Society. Germund Paaerin -life's work exhibition. Germund Paaer was the first chief designer of Kalevala Koru. He was born in Parkano, but spent his childhood and the summers of his adult life in Kihniö.

Kihniö Library
The library is centrally located in Kihniö and offers good opportunities for various exhibitions.

Puumila Art Center

Puumila Art Gallery offers a spectacular setting for exhibitions. Puumila is particularly well suited for holding exhibitions of practical objects and various art object exhibitions.
Puumila Art Center also has a cozy café and a banquet hall.
