Traffic routes and public areas

The technical function is responsible for the construction and maintenance of traffic routes, parks, sports facilities and other public areas under the responsibility of the municipality. The goal is to maintain existing roads and other public areas in a safe and good condition within the budget.

Mechanical winter maintenance of the municipality's building plan roads is carried out by Koneurakointi Nevanperä.

In the center of Kihniö, Kihniöntie, Kuruntie and Kankarintie are managed by the ELY Department.

Investment permit

Permanently placing cables, equipment, etc. in a public area always requires permission from the landowner. An installation permit must be applied for well in advance of the start of work using the installation permit application form. Applications can be submitted by email to kihnio@kihnio.fi or by post to the following address: Kihniö Municipality/Technical Department, Kihniöntie 46, 39820 Kihniö.

Traffic safety plan

The municipality completed a smart and safe mobility plan for Northwest Pirkanmaa, also known as a traffic safety plan, in 2016. You can read it here, as well as other publications related to traffic safety.
