Meidän Kihniö -project
What is your Kihniö like? What does Kihniö mean to you and how does it affect you? We want to hear from you about these things too. With the autumn, the Meidän Kihniö project, which started in the summer, has gained momentum in the municipality of Kihniö, which aims for a new kind of “me” spirit. The project aims not only to increase the vitality of the municipality but also to highlight the extensive opportunities in Kihniö to live, reside and do business.
Community as a way of working
The project is strongly community-based and creates permanent operating methods, methods and communication structures for improved cooperation between the municipality, its residents, companies, associations and seasonal residents.
Our goal is to create a model that can also be applied in other municipalities around the country. Our Kihniö project coordinator is communications designer Jyrki Mattila. Jyrki's office is upstairs in the municipal office building and the door is always open for residents or associations to come and chat. The project coordinator will also be in contact with many companies and associations in the municipality regarding the project.
Cosiness as an attraction
With the project, we want to involve all year-round residents of Kihniö as well as seasonal residents in the development of the municipality under the theme of Cosiness as an attraction. Of course, we will also include companies, associations, parishes and other actors in the region. The first concrete measures of the project have been the village walk organized in early August (the report can be downloaded at the bottom of this page) and the establishment of the Kihniö seasonal residents association. The goal of both is the same: to make the voices of the residents and other people who influence the municipality more heard. In our Kihniö, each of our voices are heard!
Half of the project's funding comes from the municipality and the other half as project support. Leader Pohjois-Satakunta has granted funding for the project from the EU's Rural Development Fund. Leader Pohjois-Satakunta is a local development association operating in the Northern Satakunta and Northwest Pirkanmaa regions. It finances projects of companies and communities from the EU's Rural Development Fund that create jobs, support the development of businesses and improve the well-being of residents.
