The wonderful, terrible countryside – housing experiments in nine municipalities challenge perceptions of everyday life in the countryside

Rural living is not for everyone, but now it is possible to try it. Applications for the Wonderful, Terrible Rural Living Experiments will open in April. The municipalities of North Satakunta and Northwest Pirkanmaa – Ikaalinen, Jämijärvi, Kankaanpää, Karvia, Kihniö, Merikarvia, Parkano, Pomarkku and Siikainen – have joined forces in a unique project that challenges perceptions of everyday rural life. – Many people seek peace and quiet in the countryside, but life there is far from stagnant. It is built on people who have the will and attitude to live here. Sometimes life in the countryside is terribly wonderful, sometimes wonderfully terrible, says project manager Noora Mari Syväluoma.
