§ 1 Legality and quorum of the meeting

§ 2 Selection of the minutes inspectors
Proposal for a decision

Two minutes reviewers will be elected. In accordance with the agreed practice, the reviewers will be Anne-Maria Koivistoinen and Leena Ojala. The minutes will be reviewed on 20.2.2026 and will be available for viewing on 23.2.2026 on the municipality's information network.

§ 3 Guest: Milla Ilonen from the Finnish Association of Disabled Persons

The Council for the Elderly and Disabled has invited Milla Ilonen, who works as an organization expert for the Finnish Association of Disabled Persons in Inner Finland, to the meeting as a guest. Milla supports the operators of local associations in Pirkanmaa and Central Finland and provides telephone advice. Milla is also the vice-chair of the Pirkanmaa Council for the Disabled.

Proposal for a decision

The Council for the Elderly and Disabled is holding discussions with Milla Ilonen and developing its activities based on the discussion.

§ 4 Survey for disability and elderly councils: Informing special groups now and in the future

The Council for the Elderly and Disabled has received a request from the Finnish Federation for Elderly Work to respond to a survey on information for special groups. The purpose of the survey is to map out how well special groups and older people in the region currently receive information about social services – especially social and health services – and how information should be developed in the future.

The focus of the survey is to hear views on how to reach people who are outside of digital and online connections or who may be inaccessible to certain electronic information channels in the future.

§ 5 Ever-Moving Week

The Age Institute, together with municipalities, welfare areas, organizations, companies and Liikkuja Pharmacies, is organizing the Ikäliikkuja Week on the 11th.

The leisure activities department has planned the following program for the Ikiliikkuja week:

  • During the week, advertising related to exercise and nutrition

  • Thursday, March 12, 2026 at 10:00-10:45 Ikiliikkuja Week webinar: A kick of protein at Kihniö Library. The webinar will offer coffee and a healthy snack in accordance with the week's theme.

  • Friday, March 13, 2026 Grandparent-grandchild event

The Leisure Service has submitted a request for cooperation to the Council for the Elderly and Disabled to implement the event.

The Council for the Elderly and Disabled is discussing cooperation opportunities to organize the Ikiliikkuja Week.

It has been agreed that at least Ulla Vierre will participate in Thursday's webinar.

§ 6 Fitness course for elderly drivers

The Council for the Elderly and Disabled, in collaboration with the Finnish Road Safety Authority, is once again organising a fitness course for elderly drivers. The course will be held in Puumila on Tuesday 10 March at 12:30 and Tuesday 31 March at 12:30.

The course is intended for people who are 65 years of age or older and who drive. The course is 2 x 3 hours long, i.e. 3 hours on two different days. The course does not involve driving, but rather discusses issues related to driving in old age in a lecture-like manner. The topics include, among others, a review of accidents that have occurred in older people, “new” and old traffic signs, “new” and old traffic rules, and driving health issues.

The course will cost the municipality nothing, as Liikenneturva will run it free of charge. The municipality is responsible for arranging the facilities, coffee breaks and marketing. The municipality will also accept registrations.

A maximum of 30 people can be accepted for the course in the order of registration. Registrations are accepted by Kirsi Jytilä, Chair of the Council for the Elderly and Disabled, by phone and email.

The Wellness Director is responsible for marketing and organizing the facilities and coffee.

The next meeting time is set for May 8, 2026 at 12:30. Taina Törmä, chairwoman of the Pirkanmaa Welfare Area Council for the Elderly, and service managers Juha Torvinen and Elise Rajala are invited as guests.
