The Education Committee approved the Kihniö Municipality Sports Service Rewards Regulations at its meeting on 21 March 2007 (Section 13). In accordance with the regulations, justified proposals for rewards have been requested from Kihniö non-profit associations that engage in sports. The Education Committee changed the club worker award to the volunteer award at its meeting on 02 November 2022 (Section 86). Those selected will be rewarded at the Independence Day celebration on 6 December 2023.
The leisure time counselor will process the received proposals and submit them to the Education and Welfare Board.
Proposals for the 2023 Sports Award recipients have been requested by Sunday, November 27, 2023.
The Education and Wellbeing Board decides to choose Lauri Huhdanpää as Athlete of the Year, Kauko Lähteenmäki as Fitness Person of the Year, and Mikko Nevanperä as Volunteer of the Year.

Kihniö Comprehensive School will be held on Tuesday, December 19, 2023 A whole village Christmas party -event that continues until the evening. On that day, it is a normal school day.
The Education and Welfare Board approves the change in the working days of Kihniö Comprehensive School so that the entire village's Christmas party will be held on the evening of Tuesday, December 19.12th, replacing the school day on Friday, December 15.12th.

The municipality arranges school transport for students in grades 1-2 whose school commute is at least three kilometers and for students in grades 3-9 whose school commute is at least five kilometers. Exceptions to transport arrangements may be made due to the dangerousness or burdensome nature of the school commute.
Large carnivore sightings are made annually in Kihniö, which raises concerns among parents and guardians. In order to ensure uniform practices, it is necessary to update the school transport guide also regarding dangerous carnivore transport.
According to the municipal administrative regulations, the Education and Welfare Board decides on the principles of school transport. The Welfare Director decides on the organization of school transport, provided that this is done in accordance with the principles approved by the board.
