Zonta Sata-Häme ry has invited the Kihniö Youth Council to participate in the Zonta organization's #together against digital harassment campaign. Digital harassment is a widespread problem in our society. Zonta asks to highlight the three most important theses/suggestions/perspectives on the theme of against digital harassment.
The Kihniö Youth Council is participating in the campaign.
The three theses of the Kihniö Youth Council are:
1. App owners should have clearer boundaries on what can be done there and this should be monitored more strictly.
2. Children and young people should be more educated about the impact of social media and the potential harm of commenting. Schools could organize more information on the subject in a way that is interesting to children and young people.
3. Adults should monitor children and young people's use of social media more closely.
The motion for a resolution was adopted unanimously.

The Kihniö Municipal Board decides on the establishment of the Youth Council and its operating conditions in accordance with legislation, the municipal administrative regulations and other instructions.
The municipal government appoints 6–12 full members to the youth council, and if possible, 2–4 deputy members, for a period corresponding to the council's term of office, based on a presentation made by the municipality's educational workers and students.
In addition, the municipal government appoints a supervisor/supervisors to the youth council, who support the activities of the youth council and participate in the youth council meetings. The supervisors are not actual members of the institution, but they have the right to speak at the meetings.
The Youth Council has the right to independently change its members during its term of office.
The election of the new Youth Council will be held before the end of the previous council term. The Youth Council will decide during the council term how the election of new members will be carried out.
The term of office of the Youth Council is one (1) year. The term begins when the municipal government appoints the Youth Council and ends when a new Youth Council is appointed. The term of office is always from February 1 to January 31.
Youth council members can be young people aged 13–22 from Kihniö or living in Kihniö. At the start of their term as a youth council member, the young person must be a Kihniö resident or a Kihniö resident who has reached the age of 13. A youth council member is entitled to continue in the youth council until the end of their term, even if they lose their eligibility for election due to their age during the term.
The number of members of the Youth Council is 6 - 12 regular members, who are elected, if possible, in such a way that students of secondary education institutions and students of basic education are represented on the Youth Council. It is recommended that 2-4 deputy members are also elected to the Youth Council, if possible. If the number of young people applying for the activities does not match the actual number of members, or if young people resign during the term of office so that no new members can be found, the Youth Council operates with a minimum of 4 members.
The Youth Council decides to start campaigning for the election of a new Youth Council. The campaign includes social media advertising, newspaper advertising, information on the municipality's website, and Wilma communication at the comprehensive school. The members of the Youth Council will distribute an advertisement about the Youth Council to school classes and introduce themselves in the classes. Registrations for the new Youth Council will be accepted until December 15, 2023.
After the registration period, the youth council will meet to decide on the selection method and possibly make the selections. Information about the selections will be submitted to the municipal government for approval.
Nuva members will tour the middle school classes and talk about the activities and opportunities of the youth council. At the same time, a survey will be conducted among the students to map out their wishes for Nuva's activities. Metta will create a Tiktok account for Nuva to market its activities.
The motion for a resolution was adopted unanimously.
