The Finns Party council group consists of eight councillors and eight deputy councillors. Councillor Jari Koskinen has been granted a resignation from his position of trust. Deputy councillor Sirpa Kaikkonen became a councillor. The council group is short of deputy councillors.
The appointment of new deputy councillors is governed by section 93 of the Election Act. If the number of deputy councillors is insufficient during the council's term of office, the municipal central election board must, at the request of the council chairman, appoint new deputy councillors in accordance with section 17 of the Municipalities Act.
The candidate with the next highest number of votes in the municipal election shall be appointed as deputy representative. For the Finns Party council group, the position of deputy representative cannot be filled under the provisions of Section 93 of the Election Act, meaning that the number of deputy representatives will be insufficient. The Finns Party no longer has any deputy representative candidates.
The Central Election Board states that the position of deputy delegate for the Finns Party cannot be filled for the remaining term of office.
