Kihniö's municipal strategy for 2022–2030 emphasizes strengthening the business community as part of the municipality's vitality and securing its future. The strategy focuses in particular on the growth of local business, supporting expertise, and increasing the municipality's attractiveness.
The municipality creates conditions for the expansion of existing companies and the location of new companies in the area.
The objectives of the measures are to encourage people of all ages, especially families with children, to settle and stay in Kihniö, and to attract new workers to the area. The aim is to highlight the good housing opportunities in Kihniö and encourage potential new residents to move and current residents of Kihniö to continue living in the area. The aim of the vitality package is to increase both the attraction and retention power of the area.
The municipality has already implemented:

"Land per ton" business plot campaign for corporate needs
A new incentive should be introduced to provide a 50% rent reduction for employees moving to the municipality in municipal rental housing.
Kihniö is offering apartments for companies or municipal employees at a 50% discount for six months. The trial is limited to a limited number of apartments. The rental discount is available for leases that start between 1 June and 31 December 2026.
The aim of this experiment is to facilitate access to labor and attract potential migrants to live and work in the municipality. The support also applies to those who are already employed in companies or the municipality located in Kihniö, live in another municipality and want to move to live in Kihniö.
Either a company or an employee can apply for an apartment, in which case proof of employment in the locality must be provided to at least one person moving into the household.

The Vitality Division proposes to the municipal government that a 50% discount on rental housing for employees moving to the municipality be introduced as of June 1, 2026. The support period is 6 months. The continuation of the Vitality Package will be decided annually in connection with the budget.
