We are looking for a youth worker for the youth services of Kihniö Municipality, whose duties include outreach youth work, school youth work and municipal youth work. The employment relationship is fixed-term from 1.1.2026 to 31.7.2026.
Outreach youth work is a low-threshold support for young people under 29 who are not in education or employment or who need support in life management; it is voluntary, free of charge, confidential and based on the young person's own needs and goals, helping to find solutions and services and promoting young people's inclusion. The activities are youth-oriented and run alongside, and outreach youth workers are youth experts who strengthen young people's resources and help them achieve their goals.
School youth work refers to youth work that takes place in schools, where a school youth worker (often a youth counselor) is a reliable adult present in the school's everyday life who supports the growth, well-being and community of young people by organizing activities (breaks, groups, lessons).
In addition, the municipality's youth work task includes working on a youth farm.
The job requires the ability to meet different young people and their life situations. The employee must have the ability to work independently and be self-directed. The most important thing in the job is to act as an advocate for young people and be familiar with current themes concerning young people, as well as being a reliable adult in their lives.
The youth worker works as part of a leisure team that includes a well-being director, leisure instructor, sports counselor, and education secretary. In addition, the entire staff of Kihniö Comprehensive School is also a colleague.
Experience in working in a multidisciplinary team, youth work, and work experience in working with and meeting people in challenging life situations is considered an advantage.
Working hours are mainly daytime, but working at a youth farm requires evening work about once a week. Working hours and some of the tasks can be agreed with the supervisor.
The salary and terms of employment are determined in accordance with the municipal general civil service and collective agreement. The standard salary for full-time work is 2574,84 euros per month. In addition, a work experience bonus may be paid based on previous work experience. The work experience bonus according to the KVTES is 3 or 8% of the job-specific salary. The position is subject to a two (2) month probationary period. The person selected for the position must present a criminal record extract in accordance with Act 504/2002.
